The pots that I make are thrown and finely turned and when they are dry I paint a range of coloured slips sometimes over stencils or wax resist,or both, overlapping the colours to produce greater tonal depth.
Lately, inspiration has come from looking at the ground ie: leaves and stalks strewn on the pavement, gathered around a drain grid or man-hole cover, or on a tarmac road surface.
Recurrent themes and motifs in my work include birds, hares and grass.
